Description

  • This is one of the best Orange Blossom honeys we have ever tasted, if not the best
  • Coarse-filtered, unpasteurised, and enzyme-rich.

  • Raw,

natural and pure, because of the remote area it comes from.
  • This raw Orange Blossom comes from the Laconian country, in the Peloponnese, a green and unspoilt area in the south of Greece, where the best oranges come from
  • This honey has an intense orange blossom with the vivid aroma of blossoms - slightly marmalady.
  • Certified Organic

Thomas' Raw Organic Orange Blossom honey is more intense than most Orange Blossom honeys. It has the slightly bitter sweetness of the orange jam that surrounds the peel in marmalade. One of the best Orange Blossom honeys we have tasted.  Orange Blossom is normally a favourite of children and those who enjoy sweet and sunny honey flavours. It has a citric aroma and a hint of creamy vanilla. A great introduction to the world of raw honey.

Super Active 21.5 Active Antibacterial Raw Organic Mountain Oak honey

Very thick honey that sits solidly on the tongue, taking a moment to melt away.

Thomas' Raw  Organic Greek Mountain Oak honey has a deliciously rich and mineral treacle flavour with hints of cooked apples and plums.  The aftertaste lingers only briefly with a slight sourness.  The aroma is similarly fruity, reminding us of cold spiced fruit sauces.  The flavour and aroma make us think this could go very well with a fruitcake or Christmas pudding.

Please note we cannot accept returns on this honey due to its size. The tin has travelled all the way from Greece so small dents to the tin will often appear.  If your tub or tin arrives slightly damaged and leaking, we are happy to give you a partial refund on the amount of honey you feel has been lost. Unfortunately, we cannot replace whole tins or tubs unless more then 50% of the honey has been lost. We would then request you send us pictures so that we can assess the damage and agree the replacement.

Colour - This particular honey is light orange in colour, slightly yellow in the light.

Origin - This Greek Orange Blossom is harvested in the orangeries of the Laconian country, in the Peloponnese (where the ancient Spartans used to live). It is produced by Thomas and his beekeeping family, they take great pride in producing honey in a traditional way, without adding or taking away anything. Thomas and his family are working towards getting organic certification and everything is produced to organic standards.

What about the plant this honey comes from? The orange tree is the beautiful fruit producing citrus tree which boasts dazzling white blossoms when flowering.

Common Uses - Orange blossom honey is particularly good to use in different recipes, such as: salad dressings, yoghurts, glazes for meats and to add a unique zing to a dish.

Orange Blossom Honey Facts - The Mediterranean area is famed for its wide variety of orange blossom honey, ranging from very clear light honey from small oranges to potent flavourful orange blossom honey with a prominent taste of orange - such as this one from Thomas.

How Raw Honey is different from Processed Honey - Raw honey generally means the honey has not been processed, it has come from the hive to the jar with minimal interference. Most supermarket honey is highly processed to make it look more attractive, usually it has been largely drained of pollen, heated and blended. Raw honey tends to vary from batch to batch, this is because it is not processed in a factory, filtered or heated to look homogeneous. Raw honey changes with the season and climate, the soil, what the bees feed on, and the nature of the colonies.

Please know that raw honey does crystalise and this is a natural process that occurs mainly due to the natural glucose in raw honey. For more information on why honey sets visit this article and for a more scientific explanation go to wikipedia.
