Raw Organic Mountain Honey and Propolis - 500g

David's Raw Organic Mountain Honey has a lovely, mild caramel foretaste, which opens into a tropical floral aroma and finishes by settling into a slight burnt sugar bitterness.  Finishes with an aftertaste reminiscent of black tea tannin.

This particular mountain honey has a small amount of organic propolis mixed in, which gives it an extra antibacterial kick.  The flavour of this mixture is reminiscent of the sour notes present in black bread and very dark beers.  It also reminds us of the strong, fruity flavours of fruit liqueurs.

Colour: This mountain honey is a beautiful dark amber colour, which shows a deep orange in the light.

Origin:  This raw mountain honey comes from the beautiful and unspoiled Galician mountains of Os Ancares and O Courel in the northwestern corner of Spain.  These honeys are all produced at altitudes of over 500m above sea level.

Raw mountain honey is gathered from a wide range of forest plants typical to the region, including chestnut, oak, heather, brambles, and other blossoms.

Mountain honey facts: Bees kept at higher altitudes will have a much shorter period of time within which to gather nectar and make honey before the seasons change.  This makes high altitude honeys rarer due to their smaller supply.  Mountain honeys also tend to have a slightly thicker consistency due to their low moisture content.
