Why Raw Honey Matters
One of the main questions we constantly get asked by new customers is what are the main differences between the honey I usually buy in the supermarket and the raw honey that you sell?
So why does raw honey matter and what's it all about?
One of the most important things to consider is that not all honey is the same. Raw honey is cold-pressed and coarsely filtered to retain natural enzymes, pollen, and nutrients, making it a health-boosting superfood. Processed honey, by contrast, is heated and heavily filtered, removing much of its beneficial properties and often mixed with sweeteners or syrups.
You can see in the video below one of our Greek beekeepers Thomas talking about the filters they use when extracting the honey from the hives.
Health Benefits

Raw honey is also known to have a number of health benefits including boosting the immune system.
It's a good source of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins & minerals. It's prebiotic qualities can help with digestive issues and raw honey is better for blood sugar levels than refined sugar.
For these reasons its the perfect addition to your Winter medicine chest.
Raw honey is the perfect natural way to sooth a sore throat, a spoonful can coat the throat and give instant relief or alternatively stirred into a mug of warm water with a slice of lemon.
Supporting Traditional Artisan Beekeepers
Tim Walker who is the owner of the Raw Honey Shop is passionate about the environment and the welfare of the bees that make every jar of the honey we sell.
The raw honey we sell isn't just honey that we buy from a middle man - we go and seek out passionate artisan beekeepers with the very highest standards. All our honeys are unblended and come from individual beekeepers with their own hives and bees.
Our beekeepers use natural, traditional practices with hives kept in remote, wild areas far from harmful pesticides and pollution.

These are just some of the reasons why raw honey matters and these benefits don't even include the wonderful flavours that raw honey produces.
With over 30 different varieties we believe we sell the largest variety of monofloral honeys in the UK.
