Unique Monofloral Honeys
Asterios Raw Greek Sidr with Acacia Honey: is a very mild and pleasant honey with a soft and light taste of creamy vanilla and a hint of floral blossoms.
Colour: This particular honey is a light golden colour.
The state : Acacia is a honey that stays runny much longer than other raw honeys and has a lower glycaemic index
Where does the honey come from?: Asterios is lucky to live in a very remote place
in eastern Greece - surrounded by forest, wild scrubland and mountains. He takes his bees to these wild places where they produce rarer types of honey, like Sidr and Acacia. His aim is to produce the best quality honey possible, so some-times he produces less to ensure a better quality. .
Who produces this honey?: Asterios is one of the most genuine people you could ever meet. His aim is always to present to us the highest quality honey possible. For Asterios beekeeping is an art and he produces both amazing honey and happy bees
What about the tree the honey comes from?: The Acacia tree is actually a flowering shrub which is part of the legume family. It is also known as the black locust tree due the black legumes which grow on the tree and give the appearance of locusts. There are an incredible amount of species, all produce a light beautiful smelling nectar that the bees love.
Common Uses: Because of its mild flavour Acacia honey is good to mix into drinks or recipes as it does not affect the flavour, unlike Oak and other stronger honeys.
Acacia Honey Facts: Acacia honey is particularly good to use on irritated skin, it has a soothing effect and can help repair wounds, infections and damage. Acacia honey has a relatively low glycaemic index, therefore it is more suited for those who can be sensitive to sugar for different reasons.
Crystallisation:- Please know that raw honey does crystallise and is a natural process of raw honey (therefore we cannot except returns on honey that may have crystallised). We indicate on the website the state of each honey - either runny or crystallised but be aware this is to the best of our knowledge and the state can change quickly. If you want your honey runny and it has crystallised it's very easy to return it to runny go to this link Runny Honey or see this section under our FAQ's Why Is My Honey Crystallised?
We only supply raw honey because we believe this is how all honey should be. If you don't want your honey to crystallise then raw honey probably isn't for you.
