More on the flavour: This is a very mild and soft tasting citrus tree blossom honey, it has a gentle hint of sweet orange, heavenly to the taste buds. It comes from bees feeding on the small mandarin trees in the Mediterranean area, different from the tree sap honey which is often dark in appearance and strong in taste, this honey tends to be very mild, light and subtle.
Where does the honey come from? This variety of mandarin honey comes from Aragon in Spain, a largely untouched, wild and diverse landscape close to the French border at the north and borders with Valencia to the south.
Who produces this honey?: This mandarin honey comes from Uncle Ramon, a friendly hip beekeeper with a passion for traditional methods of honey production. Ramon produces a wide variety of different honey, all completely raw with nothing added or taken away.
What about the plant the honey comes from? The mandarin orange tree is a small variety of the citrus family and the only sweet fruit amongst its parent plants. It is thought to have originated from Japan and China, it boasts beautiful white blossoms when in flower.
Common Uses: Mandarin honey is particularly good to use in different recipes, such as: a glaze for meats, with salads, cakes, flapjacks, breads and teas.
Mandarin Honey Facts: Mandarin honey is a slightly more rare variety of citrus honey, quite difficult to find. It has a more subtle and gentle flavour than the traditional orange blossoms of the Mediterranean and is in greater demand.
