Plamen's raw organic oak honey has an immediate and strong, dark aroma, which really suits this rich and flavourful honey. Strong mineral flavours remind us of blackstrap molasses. The dark sweetness of dried fruits such as prunes and dates comes through, finishing fairly quickly with a very faint lingering of clove or cinnamon.
Colour: When runny, this is a very dark honey, almost black in colour with very little light passing through, but it looks quite coppery when the light is strong enough. When crystalised, the honey will lighten significantly as is expected.
Where does the honey come from? This honey comes from the forests around the village of Panchevo, located in the Sredets Municipality. It is a tucked-away, rural area in southeastern Bulgaria, quite near the border with Turkey and not far from the Black Sea. It enjoys lovely warm weather in the summers and is covered in forested hills.
Who produces this honey? This honey comes from Plamen. He is a natural, traditional beekeeper, following on from generations of family beekeepers before him. He lives with his wife and son in a little stone and wood house, sat in a meadow, faced by beehives.
What about the tree the honey comes from? This honey comes from the Bulgarian strandzha oak, which is a particular oak species native to this region. The locals call honey from this tree Manov (or Mannof) honey due to the acorn sap being known as 'manna'. This oak prefers war, humid environments and grows up to elevations of 1500m.
Common Uses: Oak honey is good to use in recipes such as cakes, cookies, desert toppings, warm honey teas, and meat glazes because of the deep balsamic flavour notes.
More Oak Honey Facts: Oak honey comes from the acorns of the oak tree. The bees collect a sweet nectar that the acorns weep in July and August and create a unique type of honey. Other types of tree honey are produced from the residue left by the activity of aphids on trees but this is not the case with the oak honey. The bees directly collect the sweet fluid from the acorns. It tends to be less sweet but very potent

We use honey with apple cider vinegar as a healthy and tasty drink. The raw forest honey is ideal. It is also delicious on toast or bread.
I believe that this honey will be the best choice for any one who looking for dark runny honey. I did not find different between Organic Oak and Unprocessed Oak. Honestly, there is another kind of honey which is the Greek mountain Oak, which better taste but it is more thick. The Greek mountain honey similar to jam in its thickness.

Shipping to UK addresses
For deliveries to the UK, we use Royal Mail's 24 hour and 48 hour tracked signed services for most orders or carrier services for overweight orders. Most shipments will require a signature on delivery.
Orders placed on a working day (weekdays, excluding bank holidays) before 1pm will normally be packed and handed to the shipping company same day. Orders placed after 1pm on a working day or during non-working days will normally be packed and handed to the shipping company the following working day.
Shipping to non-UK addresses
For deliveries outside the UK, we use carrier services (the exact service will depend on your country). Delivery times will vary depending on the destination country. Most shipments require a signature on delivery.
Due to additional paperwork needed for international shipping, orders with non-UK addresses will take slightly longer to process. Orders placed on a working day (weekdays, excluding bank holidays) before 1pm will normally be packed and handed to the shipping company within two working days. Orders placed after 1pm will normally be packed and handed to the shipping company within three working days.
