Description

The Ultimate Antibacterial Selection for your medicine chest !

Debbie’s Highest Grade Manuka Active rating 20+combined with Thomas' 19+ Chestnut honey.

We’ve put together the ultimate antibacterial selection for you, to add to your medicine chest. The set is based around two of our most antibacterial honeys—a 20+ Manuka and a 19+ Chestnut honey. These complement each other, as they have different properties, and cover you for all eventualities. What we have done for you is put together an offer to combine the 19+ Active Chestnut with the 20+ Active Manuka, giving you a combined saving of £44.64.

What sets Manuka apart is that its antibacterial properties are not affected by heat. Whereas other honeys, like the Chestnut, are affected by heat. So the Manuka could be used in hot Lemon drinks and then the Chestnut in situations where heat is not used, such as direct off the spoon and gently swallowed to ease a sore throat or cough.

Please note the Manuka is crystallised and the Chestnut is runny.

The Manuka

What sets this Manuka apart from most other Manuka's is that it is single source. Almost all Manuka sold by the big brands is a blend from many different beekeepers. So you know nothing about how and where it was produced. With this Manuka we have full confidence in the product.

This raw Mountain Manuka honey is produced by the bees of Debbie, an artisan beekeeper, who lives in a paradise for producing premium Manuka honey.  Her hives are in an area surrounded by Native Forest in the Mount Bruce Conservation Reserve. Here wild Manuka grows up the mountainside. And the Ruamahunga river provides fresh mountain water for the bees to drink.

All of Debbie's Manuka honey is independently certified in New Zealand, through a government scheme to guarantee the quality at a time when there is so much fake Manuka on the market.

About the beekeeper:  Debbie came upon beekeeping by accident, after discovering two wild swarms on her land. She rapidly developed a deep love of beekeeping. Debbie has a genuine love for her bees and this helps in producing an amazing quality raw Manuka honey. Bees are sensitive and respond well when treated with kindness.

The Chestnut

Gold Winner in the 2021 London Honey Awards

The Raw Greek Chestnut Honey from Mount Athos has a deliciously rich and deep molasses flavour with a bitterness reminiscent of the aroma from freshly brewed coffee. You will still be tasting this honey in your throat 10 minutes and more after you have eaten it. Not for the faint-hearted - so please don't buy if you dislike bitter notes!

About the beekeeper: Thomas was able to get this incredibly rare honey from the Monks of Mount Athos, who have been practicing the ancient monastic tradition of beekeeping for hundreds of years.

Where it comes from: Mount Athos is both the name of the mountain and the peninsula situated in north-eastern Greece. Also named the "Holy Mountain", it represents an important centre of Eastern Orthodox monasticism.

Please know that raw honey does crystallise and this is a natural process that occurs mainly due to the natural glucose in raw honey. For more information on why honey sets visit this article and for a more scientific explanation go to wikipedia
