This gift set contains a wonderful mix of antibacterial raw honeys. It has been carefully constructed to give the best possible taste experience of natural raw honeys from the remote untouched hills and mountains of rural Spain, Bulgaria, and Greece. This set also makes a perfect gift for anyone who is a honey connoiseur with an interest in high quality all natural, raw organic honeys.
Luisa's Raw Forest honey (960g) starts with an aroma of sticky toffee pudding. On first taste, it has deep, full bodied, slightly smoky, earthy tones, delivering a more savoury taste than some other honeys. The rich main flavour is very full-bodied and deep-tasting, similar to a pomegranate molasses. There are strong mineral notes with a slightly dry and mostly clean after-taste. The body is good and thick, sitting on the tongue momentarily before melting away.
Thomas's Raw Fir honey (1kg) starts with a mild nuttiness then explodes into a bold, juicy sweetness with hints of savoury herbs and a slight sourness in the aftertaste, similar to the sourness experienced at the end of blackstrap molasses. The taste lingers sweetly on the palate for a good time. It has grassy, herbaceous smell lingering within the honey sweetness – mild and green somewhat similar to fennel or winter savoury.
Thomas's Raw Arbutus & Honeydew honey (960g) is an arbutus honey for those who don't like arbutus honey. This honey has been produced by the bees from arbutus nectar and a relatively large proportion of honeydew, which significantly reduces the natural bitterness of arbutus honey, which many find too strong for their palettes. The bitterness is instead reduced to a much more mild note in the aftertaste. Instead, the foretaste and main body are most like an oak honey - rich, fruity, and fairly mine
Ivan's Beech & Oak honey (960g) is a unique type amongst the tree varieties. It has a nutty, caramel taste with a touch of fruitiness as well as the subtle malt flavour that is more common with tree honey. This is a deep and rich tasting tree honey also known as honeydew honey. Tree honey tends to be dark and have a deeper flavour in comparison with blossom varieties. It is well-suited to those who like stronger, more complex flavours.
Please know that raw honey does crystalise and this is a natural process that occurs mainly due to the natural glucose in raw honey. For more information on why honey sets visit this article and for a more scientific explanation go to wikipedia.
