Bilal's Raw Artisan Greek Oak honey is a very deep and rich tasting tree honey; it has a fruitiness as well as a deep woody flavour. I can taste sticky dates/figs in this one. You will also notice a deep woody taste with some malt and a touch of smokiness.

The Beekeeper : Bilal has his hives in a beautiful remote area of North East mainland Greece near the village of Sidiro. His business is a family one. Their overall approach to beekeeping is pure, always working towards organic practices. He will get his organic certificate next year. He is passionate about the environment where he places his hives to ensure that his bees are happy and the honey they produce is as pure as possible.

Plant - Tree honey tends to be dark, has a stronger flavour and is made from the tree sap, not nectar.

Colour - This particular honey is dark brown in colour.

Runny State - Oak honey is less likely to set due to a relatively low glucose content.

Common Uses Being such a rich deep honey its great at breakfast time, either on porridge,  buttered toast or just enjoyed straight from the spoon !

Why Raw Honey is different to Processed Honey - Raw honey generally means the honey has not been processed, it has come from the hive to the jar with minimal interference. Most supermarket honey is highly processed to make it look more attractive, it has been drained of pollen, often heated and blended. Raw honey tends to vary from batch to batch, this is because it is not processed in a factory, filtered or heated to look homogeneous, it changes with the season and climate and what the bees feed on, we will update this fact sheet according to which batch we currently have in.
