Unique and Exceptional Raw Honey from Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus

When Tim the owner of The Raw Honey Shop was first taken to the slopes of Mount Olympus by one of our beekeepers he instantly knew what a very special place this is.

Mount Olympus, a UNESCO biosphere reserve, boasts unique flora and fauna, making the honey from this region unlike any other.

The mountain's distinct microclimate, thanks to its closeness to the sea and rapid elevation, fosters a rich diversity of terrain, climate, and vegetation.

This variety provides bees with an exclusive selection of flora and tree sap, enriching the honey's complexity and flavour.

Thus, the honey from Mount Olympus is a direct reflection of this biodiversity, capturing a wide array of flavours and aromas, making it truly unparalleled and a testament to the mountain's ecological wealth.

Its status as a UNESCO site underscores the pristine, untouched nature of its ecosystem, which contributes to the distinctive qualities of the honey produced here.

1. Raw Greek Sidr Honey -  It comes from a very dedicated beekeeper (Dimitris) whose hives are nestled deep in the wild terrain of Mount Olympus. With a focus on sustainability and bee health, he cold‑presses his honey and avoids artificial inputs. His commitment ensures every jar reflects the untouched mountain environment. It also has an outstanding active rating of 29.

The aroma is warm and inviting with herbal, woody undertones and a whisper of mountain wildflowers — evocative of the fresh air and ancient landscape of Olympus.

The flavour is smooth and bold: deep caramel sweetness, hints of vanilla, and a grounding herbal note. Complex and lingering, enhanced by the purity of high‑altitude origin.

This honey is from the lower slopes of Mount Olympus, where Sidr (Ziziphus) trees flourish beside native herbs and wildflowers. The landscape’s biodiversity, protected springs, and minimal human interference give this honey exceptional purity and strength.

2. Raw Organic Greek Mountain Honey - This honey captures the wild, diverse flora of Mount Olympus — from mountain herbs to oak, fir and pine forests (including rare Bosnian pine), thanks to the mountain’s unique microclimate, elevation and biodiversity.

The result is a deep, complex honey that reflects the richness of its habitat. Active rating of 21.

The flavour is complex - starting with earthy forest undertones, evolving into a spicy, herb-infused finish that lingers on the palate.

Slightly darker than light honeys, with deep brown hues and a richness that speaks of ancient forests and high-altitude terrain.

Ideal at breakfast — on porridge, buttered toast — or straight from the spoon. Also excellent stirred into herbal teas, stirred into yoghurt, or used as a natural sweetener in cooking and baking.
