New Active 23 honey delivery alert - from Mount Olympus Greece
Hello Honey Friend!
I really appreciate your recent raw honey order from us.
Thanks for giving us a try.
Since you're new to the shop, I wanted to let you know about a fresh delivery that just came in — an antibacterial honey with a high Active 23 rating.
These potent honeys tend to sell quickly — the last 1kg batches sold out in March — so I thought it was worth a quick heads-up before it disappears.
Like a 20+ Manuka, this honey has a strong antibacterial effect — but it comes at a fraction of the cost. (A kilo of 20+ Manuka typically goes for over £100.)
We haven't had any 20+ Active honeys in the 1kg size since March.
This new batch is the Mount Olympus Forest — a double Platinum Award-winner and one of the best tasting honeys we've ever had. Rich and treacly and quite strong, unlike blossom honeys such as Orange and Acacia, which are a lot milder.
All the details are below, Tim, Owner, Raw Honey Shop.
The story behind the Mount Olympus Forest
With the worst flu outbreak since Covid there was a big run on our Active honeys this winter and all the most antibacterial honeys sold out.
I asked Asterios, our man on the ground in Greece, if he could track down some more stock as we were right out of the honeys that are 20+.
He has come up with the goods.
What I wasn't expecting though was that Dimitris— the beekeeper behind the double platinum winning Mount Olympus Forest—would agree to part with the last of his stock.
Dimitris is a bit of a legend. He looks like he's stepped out of Alexander the Great's army, a giant of a man with an even bigger heart for the bees (as you can see in this photo I took of him when I visited his hives on Olympus two years back.)

He keeps his hives high on the slopes of Mount Olympus, where the forests are thick with ancient Oaks and wild herbs—many of which grow nowhere else on earth.
That's part of what makes this honey so distinctive.
It has a rich, earthy flavour, with herbal and resinous notes that reflect the mountain's unique microclimate—home to over 1,700 plant species, including rare endemics.
Until now, we'd never had this honey tested for antibacterial strength. This new delivery gave us the chance.
It came back as Active 23. That's firmly in the 20+ range, putting it alongside the Manukas that go for £100–£200 a kilo.
So now, we have a small supply of this exceptional honey—double Platinum Award winner, rich in rare botanicals, and freshly tested with an Active 23 rating.

What does "Active" mean?
We send some of our honeys to a lab for a "Total Activity test". This test measures the total antimicrobial activity of a honey. This is done by testing a solution of a honey on a lab plate against the Staph Aureus bacteria. The honey is graded according to the amount of bacteria that the honey solution kills. Generally, the range that we see will be between 10 and 25 plus. This type of test is similar to the test used to grade Manuka Honey.
