Athens Honey Fair and Food Expo Discoveries

Honey (and Olive Oil) Discoveries at the 2025 Athens Honey Fair & Food Expo.

In Athens, I attended two major events: the annual Honey Fair attended by Greece’s top beekeepers and a vast Food & Drink Expo. I met beekeepers from across Greece and sampled some standout new honeys as well as olive oils at the Food & Drink Expo.  

These are some of the honeys I'd love to get your opinion on in the survey I've created at the foot of this post.

• Sage Honey – Herbal, clean, mint-family flavour.
• Carob Honey (Crete) – Like our 2017 award-winner, exceptionally pure.
• Thyme Honey (Crete) – Over 80% thyme—intensely herbal.
• Blackberry Honey – Fruity, vibrant, the first I’ve seen in 8 years.
• High Mountain Blossom – From 2,000 metres; fresh and floral.
• Maple Honey – Light, honeydew-style from a Greek island.

And an olive oil with over 20mg of polyphenols per 20g—truly potent.
