🔍 Origin & Producer

Las Hortensias is a 2.82-hectare farm in Dipilto, owned by Ana María Albir Sotomayor for over 50 years. Grown on volcanic, sandy loam soils at elevations up to 1300 m, the coffee benefits from shade trees, manual cherry selection, and eco-conscious farming practices. Only ripe cherries are harvested, fermented for 18–24 hours, and dried on African beds in clean, covered micro-tunnels.

This coffee is fully washed, with meticulous care from picking to drying. The farm follows eco-friendly practices and supports community-focused sustainability. Farmers are paid premiums for high-quality parchment coffee, ensuring fair trade and reinvestment in local livelihoods.

🔍 Roast Profile

A medium roast that enhances the coffee’s natural fruitiness and sugar-like sweetness without overpowering its nuanced acidity.

🔍 Brewing Suggestions

Perfect for:

  • Espresso – for sweet citrus shots
  • Filter/V60 – a pour-over method using a cone-shaped dripper and paper filter that produces a clean, bright, and aromatic cup
  • French Press – for balanced body and flavour

📦 Storage Tips

Store in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. Best used within 4–6 weeks of opening to enjoy peak freshness and flavour.
